Industry Experience
With over 25 years of industry experience, Mike is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hylant Group. He is responsible for the overall profitability and growth of the organization, which currently has 12 offices in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. Mike is focused on talent and growth opportunities so Hylant can remain client focused and react quickly to meet their needs. As a result of this focus Hylant Group has been named one of the Best Places to Work In Insurance by Business Insurance in 2009, 2010 & 2011.
Mike began his career as a casualty underwriter for the Hartford Insurance Company in Pittsburgh. He started at Hylant Group in 1983 as a Client Executive in the Toledo office. As Hylant continued to grow, Michael was chosen to open the Cleveland office in 1989 as President, where he was responsible for all day-to-day operations and growth. The Cleveland office is the second largest office with nearly 90 employees.
Industry Recognition
Mike currently serves as a member of The Hartford’s VIP National Advisory Board, and board trustee for St. John’s Jesuit High School and Academy. Because of Michael’s extensive industry knowledge and background, he has been a speaker and panel participant at the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB) Conference and the Chubb Leadership Conference. He is a past member of the Cleveland Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization and he previously served as a member of the Zurich North America National Advisory Council. Mike was an agency panel guest for C.N.A.’s 2009 Leadership Meeting.

Mike is a member of the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers. He was a past member of the Cleveland chapter of the Young Presidents Organization and served as a board member of the Mountain View Indemnity Insurance Company (Chubb).
Education
Mike received his bachelor’s degree in business from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He has also attended Wharton for continuing education on the Insurance Industry.
