In 1971 Joe Dial Insurance , Inc. began operating as a general agency in downtown Bloomington, Indiana and by 1985 had grown into one of the largest agencies in Southern Indiana. Wells & Company, which was headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana bought the agency in 1985 which expanded available products and services such as employee benefit plans and loss control services. Conseco, a publicly traded financial services company bought Wells & Company in 1995 and after 5 years sold the agency to the Hylant Group – Toledo, Ohio.

Today, Hylant-Bloomington enjoys it’s position as the largest agency in Southern Indiana offering a wide range of personal and commercial products as well as employee benefit programs and account services. Indeed, we handle most of the larger accounts in Bloomington such as: Cook Group, The City of Bloomington, Monroe County, Bloomington Hospital, Indiana University Foundation, Sarkes Tarzian, Cardon & Associates, Pinnacle Properties, Internal Medicine Associates, and the Eye Center of Southern Indiana.
