My experience goes far beyond the decade that I have spent in this industry. I have served clients that ranged from 16 to 16,000 employees and have learned that no matter the size, exposures or business objectives of the client, it is the approach that is the key to a successful employee benefits program.

My approach is simple: insurance is an art, not a science. Although the material can be technical, an exceptional consultant makes the concepts easy to understand and shows a client how the pieces of their business are interrelated. For example, helping a client recognize how modifying their medical or disability plan can influence their workers' compensation program. By providing this kind of education, I go beyond the role of traditional broker and became a strategic partner, helping clients manage the elements of their employee benefit program in light of their overall human resource and business strategy.

There are many different kinds of risk in the business world—I help clients manage the risk that is less frequently discussed - their human capital risk. Just as a company cannot function when a production line goes down, the same is true when a company is unable to acquire and retain talented workers. I want my clients to understand all of the available and appropriate options to help meet their financial, HR and business goals. I feel the best part of my job is when a client realizes that I can be a valuable investment for their organization.
