1,000th
CRM Receives Designation
 |
AUSTIN,
Texas - July 28, 2004 - Mr. Joseph
R. Buick, CIC, CRM, account executive with
Hylant Group in Toledo, Ohio, made his mark
in risk management education history as
he became the 1,000th individual to earn
the prestigious Certified Risk Managers
(CRM) designation.
The CRM designation
recognizes individuals who have demonstrated
advanced risk management knowledge and
expertise by attending five, 20-hour courses
and passing rigorous examinations in the
areas of Principles of Risk Management,
Control of Risk, Analysis of Risk, Finance
of Risk, and Practice of Risk Management.

Mr. Buick will receive
recognition of his status as the 1,000th CRM
at a special presentation during the CRM conferment
at the James K. Ruble MEGAbration Seminar in
Dallas, Texas, this coming October. Hylant Group
will be given a scholarship to a future CRM
course.
Joe Buick graduated from
Hillsdale College in Michigan and began his
career working in the chemical field as a sales
representative. Mr. Buick then entered the insurance/risk
management industry with Hylant Group eight
years ago. Hylant Group, founded in 1935, recently
was listed 26th on Business Insurance's list
of the "Top 100 Brokers." The larger, middle
market accounts he now focuses on require a
risk management approach and having the most
up-to-date, practical knowledge available, Buick
explained.
"Awarding our 1,000th
designation marks a milestone in the growth
and development of the Certified Risk Manager
Program," said William T. Hold, Ph.D., CIC,
CPCU, CLU, co-founder of the CRM Program. "The
individuals who are responsible for protecting
the companies they represent must have the most
current knowledge available, and continually
strive for professionalism. Attaining the CRM
designation is proof of that dedication."
"Pursuing the CRM
designation was a natural progression for me
as I developed professionally and built my book
of business," Mr. Buick said. "And the courses
are a great place for networking with others
in the same field while getting up to speed
on emerging risk management techniques."
The CRM Program, which originated
in 1996, is an independent education and designation
program designed for professionals in risk management
and related fields, such as accounting, finance,
insurance, loss control, legal, and claims.
