Toledo, Ohio August 23, 2016 – Hylant, one of the nation’s largest privately owned insurance brokerage firms, has named Spencer Timmel to the newly created position of Vice President, Cyber & Technology Risk Practice leader.
“Spencer was one of the early adopters focusing on cyber security, and his leadership will allow Hylant to provide an integrated approach to manage cyber security and technology risks. The promotion of Spencer to lead this practice comes at a time when the market is significantly expanding and, as we see, cyber-related events are occurring ever more frequently in both magnitude and severity,” said Kevin O’Donnell, senior vice president, Risk Practices.
Spencer speaks regularly on network security and privacy liability topics. He shared his insights with the United States Treasury, American Bar Association, Association for Corporate Growth, Financial Executives International, Risk Insurance Management Society, Healthcare Financial Management Association and the NetDiligence Cyber Risk Liability Forum.
Spencer received his bachelor’s degree in business-finance from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and his master’s in business administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was named to Business Insurance’s list of top 40 under 40 brokers in 2015. He also holds the Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP) and Certified International Privacy Manager (CIPM) designations, both of which are recognized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
