Health Care Costs on the Rise

Without a doubt you have experienced the rise of health care costs over the last several years. We expect the trend of health costs rising faster than the rate of inflation to continue. Studies attribute the rising costs to a number of factors, including an increase in providers, new regulations, increased demand, technology, higher prescription costs, poor lifestyle choices and low health care literacy.

Becoming health care literate can be complicated. More than 1 in 3 Americans have difficulty with common health tasks, like reading a prescription drug label or making a wise health care decision. Low health literacy is estimated to cost the United States between $106 billion and $238 billion annually and accounts for 7 to 17 percent of all personal health care expenditures.
